If you are staying in the area of The Wirral Peninsula especially if you are at the CC site at Thurstaston may I recommend a tea room to you?
The Sweet Pea Cafe in Acacia Grove West Kirby,Opposite the sports centre. You can drive to it and park in the Morrisons around the corner or walk or bike it along the Wirral way from Thurstaston.
Everything sold in the cafe is made fresh daily especially the cakes. It is also open on Sundays for superb breakfasts. The atmosphere is very relaxing with an eclectic mix of funiture, books papers and background music which doesn't drown out conversation. The building itself is quirky and can be likened to a set from Heartbeat.
Rosey, the young talented owner is very skillful and reminds me of Rene Zellweger, visit and see if you agree.
May I recommend breakfast there, a stroll around the Marine lake or across to Hilbre Island (tides permitting) and your evening meal in Marigolds fish bar, better than Ramsdens.

Don, I am sorry to break the bad news to you, but the Tower burnt down in the late 60's. It has been replaced by a housing estate of 'boxes'.
The good news is that the Floral Pavilion theatre is being rebuilt and also is to include a convention centre.

Bigfoot. I will try the tea room next week. The path aroung the lake is breaking up,Council reckon it will cost £750.000 to repair so may not get repaired.

Hi sid is the van back yet? The sea wall was extended and rebuilt with EU money in the early 80's,they now reveal that it only had a 25 year life!
What with all the plans to build a hotel an marina on the site our lords an masters may just let it rot like they did with New Brighton!!

Hi Frank. Sorry to miss you, I don't recall seeing any posts asking for info on the area. Must admit I haven't read your blog yet.
Cheers Sid.
Bigfoot. I called in at Peter Hambiltons last Thursday, They have stripped the awning and everything off the side ready for the new one when it arrives, The gas compartment is on a sub frame attached to the chassis and is badly bent. Some parts have arrived but they are still looking at 3/4 weeks.
Cheers Sid

Frank,
Please don't misconstrue what I am saying,it is a very pleasant area to visit. It's just that the ejits in the clown hall seem to be more interested in turning Wirral into a 'golf resort',personally I'm with personally i'm with Mark twain when it comes to golf. Don't miss out on the opportunity to walk out to Hilbre Island. Enjoy your stay.
CC site at Thursaston may be better for you.
