Hi - if anyone out there has a fiat x/250- base with factory fitted air con i need your help.

For the first time this weekend I've used the aircon and was disappointed and confused with its performance - I'm hoping to get a bit of advice from this site before making a 50 mile trip to my nearest commercial fiat dealer.

To 'fire up' the aircon you have to push the air con button - simple! - Smile however the led only lights up when it the fan speed is selected to position 2 - which is such a gentle airspeed you can hardly notice. If you increase the fan speed to position 3 or 4(max) the led light in the aircon switch goes out and it blasts warm outside air into the cab.

Is this just how it is with these new fiat bases or have I a got a problem? Confused

any help really appreciated -

Hi DC

I think you have a problem. Crying or Very sad

I just went out and tried mine, admittedly not for long enough to be sure if it was blowing cold air, but the light in the button stays on at all fan speeds.

Maybe a phone call before you set out for the dealer.

Sorry it's bad news

I've used mine regularly during this recent hot weather, and it has been very efficient.

Just before your 50 mile trip it may be worth checking the instructions in the handbook ( if there are any) in case there are any other controls that have to be in certain positions such as not having 'recycle' mode on, for example.

Just a thought: I know diddly squat about Fiats specifically.

Dcummin, I think there is a clue in what you said:

"For the first time this weekend I've used the aircon .."

How long have you had the MH? Cab aircon systems deteriorate and the gas may leak unless you use it regularly to keep it in good condition. I make sure I push the AC switch to "on" for at least part of every journey even in winter. If I haven't used it for a week I get twitchy. Your AC system might need re-gassing now.

Thanks Speedy. Very Happy I didn't know that.

You learn something new every day don't you! Confused
