On our "maiden voyage" to Europe we took our AA book of European campites thinking the sat nav would do the rest. Unfortunately we were mistaken. The first site postcode which was near Fez on the north coast ended up taking us to the middle of Lugo, nowhere near the coast. After that we used a mixture of maps, sat nav to the nearest town and then our eyes. We wondered what all you experienced travellers used. We did try GPS aswell but that was not very good as most of them were way off. The AA book didn't have the full addresses in like street names etc. and we thought there must be a better book out there somewhere.
Any info would be helpful

Thanks for the info I think we will try Alan Rogers, his website looks quite good too.
I really must get one of those witty sayings to put at the end of my posts some of them are really funny.
Thanks again

In Europe we use a mixture of camperstop book and the Europe 1 and 2 books from the Caravan Club, they are excellent with a good selection of sites ranging from the top notch to the Municipal.
Our electrical system decided to stop working last year apart from on hook up and we had to use sites every night, I would say 90% of them came from the 2 Caravan club books.
Just got this years and it was Ģ22 including postage, they weigh a ton as they are quite thick.

In France: Eyeball Mark 1 Once we start to feel tired, we just try to get off the beaten track a little bit, and then find either an aire, or a camping municipal (both are usually signposted). Or a place somewhere in the wild.
Best Regards,
Gerhard

is a useful source of POI downloads for your satnav. There are lots more free ones too - including France Passion, aires and stellplatz.
If you are on the road and looking for a campsite then you can ask your satnav to take you to the nearest or, pull off and check whether the nearest one is suitable in the campsite books you carry.

We have the ASCI Camp Site Guide on CD. Very useful, addresses for all campgrounds so we rely on the SatNav. Used it mostly in Germany so far though... You can order it for less than 15 pounds I believe.
Nice prints to paper if you don't carry a PC with you
Cheers,
Oyvind
