Evening all,
Do any of you members take mh off the road for winter to save on road tax. Even if it is only for three months or so.Last year my mh was not used from november until april.
Could have saved 6 months tax.

Regards
Dave p

We use ours all year but I can see the sense in SORN if you aren't using it.

Had considered it when my father was ill and we couldn't get out. But now we are determined to get more use. £15 per month compared with todays bills is not going to make me cry, and anyway, that nice Mr Darling is going to give us £120 each so we can afford it.
Yippeeeeeeee!!!

I SORN'd mine at the end of March because we knew we wouldn't be able to make much use of it and the insurance had expired as well. However, I won't be doing that this year.

The worry of being uninsured (for theft &c) was too uncomfortable, and the cost of any unused tax is bearable in comparison to the cost of insurance.

Besides which, there were a couple of times I could have used the van and didn't, just because I'd let things lapse. I did manage to use the van a couple of times just before the tax and insurance expired - unfortunately only for carting DIY stuff that wouldn't fit in my car :~)

You don't lose insurance cover if you have SORN (except if you drive the vehicle on the road...and then you'd have more serious things to worry about!)

You do if you let your insurance run out. Smile
