I bought one of them a couple of years ago, same problem at first - could not get any signal. Turned out I had the elevation wrong. The dish was actually tilted a few degrees from vertical, facing the ground (in central Scotland) to get 28E. Spent hours getting that first signal, but once you know where to look it only takes a minute or two to set up.

Don't despair Drumshade,
If the box works when connected to a dish you know is set up ok then it should work when you align your van dish correctly.
There is a great web page which explains a lot of the mysteries of setting up - from memory I think it is :- http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/
No doubt someone with a bit more experience will be along soon to help but the above site got me going and my set up time at a new location varies from zero (a lucky throw !!) to 10 mins. Most of the time it is just a few minutes - ie less time than setting up a terrestrial aerial.

These receivers are fairly easy to set up and work very well, I have one.

Don't forget to check the connections between the LNB and receiver for short-circuits. And sorry, but I don't mean to insult, check for obstructions, trees, pylons etc. As previously stated: incorrect alignment is 99% of the 'no signal' problem.

BTW. Lidl in Street, have just reduced the price to £44.99! They had about twenty left first thing this morning.

Invest in a Maxview Sat Finder-it screws inline and helps with setting - lights and noise. It will be cheaper than a wig!!!
Happy hunting

After several weeks we have at last got our Maplin one working - not perfect but it is a start. So dont give up and throw it in the bin. We nearly did thinking it was faulty or useless, but like you, we tried it indoors and it worked there so set it up on site (again) and it worked there too We still dont know how it happened Rolling Eyes but hope it will work again next time Laughing

For the uk you need your dish almost vertical. and the lnb slightly to clockwise point south going east slowly . make sure your sat receiver is set to astra 2d
