Hello everyone!
I have been watching you all silently for a while now, but this is my first attempt to communicate. My wife and I live in New Zealand and have just sold our business and home and are going to have a mid life intermission before rejoining the money-go-round.Unfortunately will shall probably only allow ourselves 6 months. We will be arriving in Europe or UK mid April to buy a coachbuilt or A class camper to tour the continent. We would prefer to arrange a buy back out of Germany or Amsterdam but are finding it a bit daunting so far.If we cant arrange a suitable buy back we may have to purchase in the UK where the regulations seem to be less of a problem but are concerned about reselling in the off season. We will find a solution and accept that it will cost several thousands of whatevers. Does anyone privately lease there motorhomes? All suggestions would be welcome, particularly names of German dealers who are known to do buy backs.
Regards
Montie

Welcome. My personal opinion for that time would be to rent one. Cost wise, worry wise etc better value I think. Also from a repair or replacement point of view as well will be less hassle. e.g. If you had a bump, you could be off the road for some time. Rental, I think, give you another although on second thoughts, if I were the hirer I may have second thoughts about letting you have another one. I think the man you need to speak to is Bruff (really sorry if I got the name wrong) from the Netherlands who hired one out, had a prang on day one and was up and running in no time at all for his Scandinavian tour.

I used to do that with cars, it can work out cheaper but as pussers says you have all the hassle of insurance and running costs. On the other hand
if the dealer wasn't interested, I used to reckon the car wasn't worth having. I would think most dealers should be interested in such a deal if they can see a profit in it. I certainly never had any problem on the two occasions I did it with cars.
I think you are unlikely to find a private lease, the insurance costs are too high if it is all done above board and you might as well go to a hire company in the first place.
Good hunting.

I can't help you with your query but there will probably be someone here who can at least point you in the right direction.
NZ is very much in our thoughts at the moment as we have friends who have recently travelled to your beautiful Country to visit their daughter and family.
They are taking 2 months over the visit in order to tour and see as much of New Zealand as possible in the time. We have been in touch by email and they are loving it.
