Hi
Are you talking about the MultiJet or the previous model? Are you replacing just the glass, or the whole housing?

Hi Russell,
The van is a 2004 2.00jtd so im not sure.I want to replace the glass
because its broken and is also distorted so sticking a new glass onto the old one wont work.I need to get it out to flatten it then stick the new glass on
Have heard that it is held in place with a ball joint, and is very difficult to get out not sure if this is right?
Thanks |

I had one replaced under warranty (full unit) I don't know if the mirror only can be replaced.
Replacement of the unit was quite easy, only took 15 min, why'll I watched
1/ Removed door panel and unplugged connection to elec. mirror
2/Removed broken mirror unit
3/Fitted new mirror unit, reconnected elec.and replace door panel

Hi Bill,
I have an older Peugeot but I suspect that the construction of the mirror may be very similar. I took mine apart to reconstruct the outer casing which had been smashed by a passing 4x4.
This is what I found on mine.
The mirror glass is stuck onto a plastic backing with an overall piece of double sided adhesive. The plastic backing is held onto the ball joint assembly by means of a chamfered circular fitment, a spring clip and some lugs but the crucial part of this is the spring clip which runs from top to bottom of the backing and goes around the chamfered circular piece. It has open ends (at the bottom I think) and a squarish shape at the top with which you may be able to pull it out. The only similar thing I can liken it to is the clip that holds in a headlight bulb if you know what I mean.
The spring clip needs to be removed otherwise the glass and backing cannot be taken out. The glass and backing part is clipped into place with two or three lugs and needs very a good pull to get it to come out of the assembly.
When you have it apart it all makes sense of course. The spring clip is put onto the backing before reassembly and as you push the mirror back into place the clip is pushed outwards by the chamfer and then drops into the slot behind so that it cannot come back out again.
I don't suppose for one minute that the parts will be available separately, I suspect it will be sold as a complete assembly.
If you want any more info send me a PM and I'll try to help.
