Quite simply, no.
Most of Ireland is still only covered by VHF rather than UHF so most analogue TVs will not work either. There is a programme to move directly to DVB-T but progress is very slow at the moment.

Freeview is available in Northern Ireland, Down south you should be able to pick up 3 or 4 channels with a standard aerial. A Sky box/dish would be best option to cover all channels.

Hi Bob, have a look at this site http://www.irish-tv.com/irishtrans.asp it gives all the info you are looking for. Just for the record if you bring a sat box, Sky, Freesat, etc. you will be able to pick up all that is available in the UK but a 60/80 cm dish is best for the west of Ireland.
