Hi,
I am thinking of investing in a MH and wanted some advice.Could you tell me what sort of starter MH I ought to be looking for,in terms of MPG,insurance, reliability.I am looking for a 4 berth costing around 10k,what sort of MH would I get for that kind of money.I have looked on Ebay, but reluctant to buy off there, and wondered if anyone knew of any reliable dealers in,or around Stoke, within a 30 mile(ish) radius.Any advice would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Stokie.

FROM THE ADVICE I'VE GOT FROM HERE:
Keep it small to start - under 6 metres.
Think what you want it for.
How many people.
How far might you travel.
Do you want to do work on it.
Buy a magazine-I prefer Practical Motor Home.
Accept that the first one you buy will be wrong.

Hi again,
I am looking for a MH that will comfortablily sleep 3 adults and a baby(under2).I never thought of autotrader, will certainly give it a go.I know that my first MH will probably be a disaster but im not too bad with the old handsI certainly wont be rushing into buying the first MH I see and will shop around for the right deal...Its just that budget is a little tight at the mo.Anymore replies would be most informative.
Thanks,
Stokie.

Hi Stokie

We bought our first van off Autotrader, and got a very good deal Very Happy

When we started looking, we had a 10k budget, but looking around at dealers', we got a bit fed up of musty-smelling LHD Hymers, and we upped our budget to £20k, and had a lot more choice.

3 adults and a small child almost certainly means a coachbuilt of some sort.

. It might give you some useful tips.

Ebay can be good, and some members have successfully bought off Ebay. There are some scams around, especially at a higher value. If you see something you quite fancy, don't hesitate to post a link on here - some of our members can 'sniff out' a dodgy deal at twenty paces.

Hi Stokie...I'm from Stoke too and we bought our an out of the Sentinel private sale... my advice is to have a good look round at different vans and layouts till you find something that suits you and not forgetting the condition too... it took us a few months o find our van with the layout that we wanted and the condition and price too... just don't rush for the sake of getting something you might regret... There are quiet a few Motorhome sales within 50 miles of Stoke.

Good luck with your search.

Teckie
