I recently stayed at Trewethett Farm CC site where they've got WiFi internet access provided by a company called KeConnect.
As discussed previously this service is very expensive, so I didn't use it, apart for the fact that the pitch I was on only received a 14% signal,
When I got home I had a look at BT Openzone website and its seems that Keconnect is one of their partners and I could have connected using my 250min. monthly free allowance.
Has anyone successfully used their Openzone minutes on a Caravan Club site with KeConnect?

Tried it at Edinburgh at the end of may, on a pitch close to the main building. Couldn't get a signal. Couldn't even get a signal outside.
Had to use 3 Dongle instead.
If that's their best efforts then they should have saved our money.

I know absolutley zilch about computers, but my other half works with them and he says (and has said to wardens) that their system is a complete rip off and waste of time.....
I have just come back from Longleat CC site. I turned on my computer wifi and picked up a good signal. I did not sign on because it seemed very expensive but it clearly stated that BT openzone would work.
It also suggested that you asked the warden which sites had a good signal.
I have used the CCC system and that cost less and worked well.
The only wi-fi I've used is on the independent Thorney Lakes site near Langport in Somerset. And it's free . It looks like it's just an external wireless antenna connected to their office router. If they can do it, surely the CC can as a service to members.
I don't wish to start another CC bashing, but this money grabbing annoys me:
1. Charge for wifi
2. Charge to use the classifieds add on the website
3. Using volunteers to run sites
4. Making everyone have electric
5. Additional £10 admin fee to change a ferry booking through them
As a member, I would expect 1 and 2 to be FOC.
As for 3, would you work for Tescos and not expect to get paid? Unlike the National Trust, the CC is hardly there for the good of the nation.
Location: In the badlands on the border of Staffordshire and Cheshire just out of earshot of the M6 and WCML
Status: Offline
We used the CC system at Clumber in early April because we'd just bought a new laptop and wanted to check it out. Also if I remember correctly Clumber doesn't have any mobile reception.
Anyway the system worked well but we resolved not to use it again until the price was substantially reduced.
The Wardens standard excuse for the exorbitant charges is that the equipment provider sets the rates, not CC. In the light of that it would be interesting to know if CC take any kick back.
I would suggest everybody boycotts the service until it becomes as cheap as chips and then they'll find useage will take off like wildfire. There's definitely a massive demand, but not at silly money.

PS As an aside we've tried logging on outside three McDonalds take aways for their free access service and have only been able to actually connect at one outlet. At the other two we picked up other nearby wireless routers but not the McDonalds one, even though in both cases we were parked right next to the building.
Used several McDonalds in France about 50% were configured for wifi access only inside the building. As usually we were in a hurry, I just sat down and logged on while my partner bought a coffee, but at lunchtime it was so busy that we didn't bother to purchase anything. Hope this helps?
If you go in for the 1 hour CCC option (only) you can can log in and out so it could be better value. On the longer options once you have started the clock keeps running until you time is up.
