Hi, I'm so new that I havn't bought my Camper yet, however, I will sometime in April. I have been collecting lots of info from the forums but have a question about TV reception in France. I don't want to keep up with either Corrie or Eastenders but would like to be able to pick up French stations for news and weather, it will help with my French also. Do I need anything special? I will get an aerial fitted but can I use a UK portable or does the TV need to something special or do I need one of those decoder boxes?? No doubt as April draws nearer I will will be asking for help again.
Thanks, Janni. |

hi janni
welcome to MHF. it doesn't look as if any of the techies are online but i'll have a go.
you need to have a multistandard tv. i believe the french system is different to ours. i have a 10 inch roadstar tv which has all the european systems and it's just connect to aerial, switch on and tune in.
what MH are you buying in april
if you haven't decided don't forget to look at the classifieds on this site. i can reccommend the devon toyota |

| To receive French TV ( assuming you do not want satellite TV) you will need a multistandard TV that operates on the SECAM frequency. If you travel to Spain the frequency is PAL B/G. Multistandard TVs are available in this country. Before you buy check that it is multistandard. |

Hi we have a multistandard LCD TV
we take it across Europe & tune into the local stations
Weather is OK as they all use similar symbols to home News some speak clearly so youse can be understanding others just gabble on
You car radio should pick up something while travellingWe also carry a radio/Cd player so we can have some music we understand
We have picked up chanel 4 in Perpignon
I always try to tune in to Uksometimes you are lucky
Our LCG TV is from an electrical superstore and comes cheaper than from a camping shop Its mains only
Also taking a laptop next time & you can et UK Radio via internet
Going for a Vodaphone Pay as you go rps device next week |

hi,
we, german mh. use only the TV satellite ASTRA, with digital receiver you receive: english and french program too ( TV5, CNN-Europe, RTBF a.s o... )
To receive the other french programs ( TF1,TF2,TF3, Canal+) on satellite, you must go over HOTBIRD .
The SECAM system is only for [color=blue:dba7e5cd8b]terrestrian TV...[/color:dba7e5cd8b]
