Hi not often I need help with computers but so far had no luck with this one.

I have a desktop computer Packard bell dual core and all that running vista premium.

This has a card reader built in and so far has worked ok with my CF & SD cards.

I have just got a new camera and this came with a SDHC card. My card reader will not read it.

When I put the card in the light comes on to recognise a card in the reader but that's all. I have no idea what make the reader is.

Has anyone had the same problem? Does anyone know if new drivers are required for SDHC? Or where to get them?

I will keep looking just wondered if anyone knows the solution.

Thanks

Pete

As with a camera you might be abroad and wanting to upload via an internet cafe, I got one of these myself:

Install mobile Skype on your memory card and then you can always Skype family and friends, too, even if the application isn't on the internet cafe computer Smile

Pete I also had the same problem with my 4 gig card it just will not work on my Dell XPS laptop running vista, however the card came with an adaptor and when the card was inserted my desktop computer did read it.

I believe it has got to be something with the high compression of the card

I also tried using the card on my desktop without the adapter and it did not work

Hi

I am guessing that you are talking about a Panasonic type SDHC card ... if so a little googling reveals that when they were launched they were not compatible with many ordinary SD card readers. Evil or Very Mad I am guessing the situation is still the same ....You need to look for the SDHC logo on the reader.

You may find that a new driver will sort things out if the hardware supplier has one but don't hold your breath on that....if it was me I would just get a little USB reader that will do the job.

When I bought my Sandisk 4Gb SDHC Card from ebay I got a free reader with it and I have had no problems as yet reading the card on any PC or Laptop.
