I've had the trailer for 8 or 9 years, and could manoeuvre it fairly well with a car. My drive was at every angle except level, so I didn't get much practice at home as I'd have just worn out tyres and clutches. I met a big 4x4 on a single track road once, and the driver got really angry as I wouldn't reverse for him. In the end he backed up a long way, looking furious. When I drove past him, he wound down the window with a very apologetic look on his face, and said "sorry, I didn't realise you were towing" Very Happy.

I find it harder to reverse with the van. I can do it very slowly, but it's difficult to see it going off line, as it's much narrower than the van. By the time I see it in a side mirror it's gone too far off line. I can see out of one rear window, and with the reversing camera, but that doesn't seem to help. I suppose I ought to find somewhere to practice.

Yesterday I was doing quite well, and didn't let the lorry driver wind me up, but he left me very little room to pull forward when I needed to. If there hadn't been a car parked on my side of the road I would probably have been ok.

Putting a sign on the windscreen is a good idea, but as I look out of the top few inches of the screen I'm not sure where I'd put it. Haven't found a place for my MHF sticker yet!

I'm looking forward to meeting a tugger who can't reverse, or a motorhome with an A-frame, on a single track lane to a camp site Laughing

John,
Suggest you try visiting the CCC site at West Runton near Cromer at noon on a Saturday during peak season. Your wish might just be granted Laughing Laughing

i find the best message that you're not going to reverse is to get out of the seat, fetch a mug, then gesture "cheers" with it to the other driver. works every time.

Well I hope we dont bump into you then - cos we tow our smart on an A frame now and if you wont budge and we wont budge then it looks like we will just have to put the kettle on cos we could both be in for a long night! LOL .............. Do you take milk and sugar? Wink

PS Why did you say you look forward to meeting someone who can't reverse on a single track lane ????? It sounds like you might enjoy the prospect or something................. surely NOT, do I detect an evil streak? Twisted Evil I can think of far better was of getting a kick out of life! Laughing Mind you, what we could do if we did ever encounter you , is unhook our Smart and then .......................... p*** off down the pub! Hee Hee Hee Wink
