in the €1 bins in Lidl, I discovered some rolls of non-slip matting.

cut up it is ideal in the cupboards, epecially the crockery cupboard...

but also useful to stop cups/plates slipping on tables etc....

Sometimes you can get real bargains with this stuff, as Lidl's offer seems to be. If you buy it from a camping shop it can be very expensive though. We have yards of it lining everywhere.

We bought some of the non-slip matting that is intended to go under rugs from a carpet shop. It's a bigger mesh than the usual but works, costs a lot less and comes by the metre off the roll.

the other bargain that was in the same bins (but not MH related) were a packet of 8 various size watch batteries - how much does a jeweler/market stall charge to change the battery €10??

The larger mesh type you describe is also easily available at Wilkos for £3 per roll. I use the fine mesh for cupboard linings but the large mesh works well on top of the cooker glass lid. Prevents it from getting scratched. I set a tray on it containing my kettle, tea and sugar caddies.
That way I'm not over using the locker doors (opening & closing two dozen times a day). I like my cups of tea and its much more converient this way.

OK Thanks. Will stick with the status quo.

I removed my cream carpets and replaced them with cream non slip vet bed.

Ordered a roll and cut it into 3 rectangular mats. sliding doorway to long settee. long settee to cooker. rear door to cooker.

deliberately left a few inches of wood effect cushion floor showing between mats. Looks much nicer and is more practical than "fitting" the vet bed.

after each outing, using a stiff brush I clean each mat, give it a good shake, and hoover. If dirty pop in washing machine.

Job done. No dirty or whiffy flooring and so much better than mats creeping everywhere. The non slip vet bed does not mover at all.

forgot to say. Nice and warm and fluffy under your bare feet. Lovely. But that might just be a girl thing. lol
