Laughing hi everyone.
i am considering fitting a refillable (gasflow)system to my motorhome.
however the prices are about £200+ . my question is: if i can get the bottle for £85 from gasflow and the adaptor to be fitted to van is same as my cars (i have spare one) what else is needed apartfrom hose from adaptor to bottle that makes it so expensive. if i fit adaptor to van and run a hose to bottle would that do the job. or is there another really expensive part that i would need . any help would be gratefull. if no other parts are required i would install all the above myself (that is some labour charge)

I paid approx. £200.00 for my bottle , I would not have thought you could have got a refillable steel bottle with 80% shut off valve for £85.00, however if you know of a source I would be interested myself then I would double it up.

Hi cambis9 and welcome to the site,

I had a 6 kg gaslow fitted to my van (to run together with a 6kg calor)

Bits req'd were;

1 x 6kg bottle - £65
remote fill kit - £50
changeover gauge - £22.50
0.75 mtr hose - £8.95

AFAIK this is the minimum kit req'd to run a bottle in conjunction with a 6kg calor and are gaslows prices.

Total - £146.45.

and maybe give them a ring for advice, they are very helpful with info over the phone.

pete.

Sorry, didn't notice it was your first posting, welcome to the forum. When I bought mine the smaller ones, to the best of my knowledge were not available, and I assumed you were talking about an 11 Kg bottle, mine came from MTH and at the time were thae same product as TD. No problem fitting, make sure bottles securely mounted and make the filling point a permanent fixture then no problems filling.

Mine can be seen at:

Razz thanks everyone for your help. ken you can get a 11kg bottle supplied by gasflow priced at £85.. this is why i thought i would fit system myself.
will probably fit as in your picture ken rather than make hole in body of van. if i have filler as your picture shows ken what else is there to add from point of fill to bottle. can i just join hose from filler to bottle or will i need a gauge in between (is it needed) cheers graham (cambis 9)

Graham

My bottle came from MTH and appear to be different from Gaslow (Gasflow?) . MTH bottles come with 80% cut off, contents gauge and safety valve fitted. I could see no contents gauge or safety valve in the Gaslow catalogue pictures (Maybe just a bad picture?)

All I needed to do with mine was to make a secure mounting for the bottle and clamped it firmly in place with a ratchet strap, make a bracket for the filling pipe (remember to allow enough room for attaching the gun when filling) and attach the filling pipe and connector.

I also mounted a piece of polished 20swg SS sheet to a hinge fitted to the top of the gas locker hanging down at 45degrees to enable me to see the contents gauge

In my opinion a gauge is desirable though not strictly necessary

I know this does not fully answer your questions but I do not know the Gaslow product and would prefer not to commit myself, If I can help anymore just ask.

Ken
PS thanks for the info on the bottle, I may well put it to use

Razz thanks ken for quick reply i went to the gasflow web site after reading your comments regarding the 80% cut off , gas flow has assured me that their bottle is fitted with a 80%cut off valve and also offers a 15 year guarantee(that being if company still around). so it looks as though i will get one from them. postage would be around £15-20 depending what i order from them

Has anyone read the letters in the latest MMM.Re. refillables I find it rather confusing so until it it is made clearer as to whether filling stations will allow us to fill them I will be waiting.
