We are having problems when running the fridge on gas, in our Laika ecovip 400i motorhome. Sometimes it works fine, but other times it cuts out, and will not light again. As we like to stay on a CL site over a weekend that has no hook up it is beginning to cause problems.
Has anyone else had this problem?
We also heard that it takes a day to remove the fridge if needing repair, is that correct?

Very Happy Buon giorno snarler,
I think that many of us will have had problems with fridge on gas at sometime or other. In a Laika the fridge is probably Electrolux/Dometic, as they are in most motorhomes of any make.
Your best bet is almost certainly to get a qualified motorhome maintenance man to have alook at it. Often the gas burner/flue behind the lower outside vent can get dirty/blocked/have a spiders nest in it/ or anything like that, or the flue could be sooted up.
It could be opened on a do it yourself basis, but only if you really know what you are doing.
I would be surprised if an expert would actually need to remove the fridge
and take a day over it. More likely just need to take off the outside vents and clean things up a bit - an hour max.
saluti,
eddied

many thanks for that,
we have it booked in for a habitation service in 2 weeks so hopefully it will sort things out. However there is no vent at the bottom of the van, only one at the top where the cooker is above the fridge, which makes it difficult to get to, thats why we were told the fridge needed to come out !!.
