I have just acquired a Motor caravan on a Fiat Ducato 2.3 JTD and I am unsure of the correct tyre pressures. The Handbook says to put in 5 bar (73 psi) is this corect or a misprint as it seems high to me. If it is correct is an ordinary footpump capable of putting in this amount of pressure.
Thank you in anticipation. |

Hi Benbow
My M/H is on a Fiat 2.3 JTD and the tyre pressures are 5.5 bar rear, 5.0 bar front.
Mine doesn't come with a spare wheel but does include the flat tyre liquid repair system, which includes an air pump.
Hope this helps.

The correct way is, Fill your M/H tanks and load it to your normal maximum weight, plus driver and passengers, take it to a local weighbridge and have each axle weighed, plus total,Ring the tyre manufacturers tec department giving you tyre types, sizes, etc, plus axle weights and they will give you the pressures needed. This also checks that you are not overloaded and gives an idea as to what can be carried.
All the best, |

Hi benbow
I've just had a similar problem. You say the pressure was quoted in the handbook - but which handbook.
My chassis info gave a very high figure, the conversion book gave another, and the tyres were set to a middle figure. I rang the converter who said their figure was correct and that the chassis figure was for the unconverted van.
You could probably use a footpump for 73 psi but after one go you'll want to buy a 12v pump! Mine works great at this sort of pressure.
The weighbridge option is sound advice if you're left in any doubt.
