I've summarised my findings HERE

which also has my "quick and dirty" spreadsheet for working out the cheapest SIM to use. This page also has a link to £5 discount of GGS.

Please note the spreadsheet assumes mainly Europe - so if you are going to other places check tariffs first and modify accordingly. Hope you find this useful

What type of mobile do you need to be able to run Skype on it? Never thought of that!

Thanks - many idea from MHF so I can't take all the credit! I just hope having it all in one place is useful.

When I left work I "kept" my v1615

phone which as you can see has everything - 3G, GPS, WiFi, Quadband, Bluetooth, Camea, Modem blah blah.

But basically - any Windows Mobile phone will run Skype. I would suggest your phone supported WiFi though as this makes it easier.

they have versions for Windows Mobile, some Nokia, and other variants.

(PS - I'm not sure I'd ever recommend Windows Mobile for a phone OS - but as we have loads of requirements for it - its the only thing that will do.)
