Hi whisky and welcome to MotorhomeFacts.

I live not far from Leicester but have no personal knowledge of Campers Direct.
There's some info here regarding the no. of employees and that they've been trading since 2003:

The site they occupy has been occupied by a caravan dealer for perhaps 30 years and would be considered by many to be a prime site being situated on a main road into Leicester and within walking distance of the City centre. It suggests they are not a fly by night company.

The question of the deposit is something between you and the dealer. Only he can tell you whether it is a refundable deposit or not. He obviously wants some gesture of good faith as it is always possible that he may miss a sale if he held this mh for you and you didn't turn up.
However if you do turn up from Cornwall and then don't go through with the sale, in my opinion you are no timewaster. Smile

You can of course not pay a deposit but just tell him you are coming and ask him to let you know in the meantime if it is sold or you could perhaps ring to check on the availability before setting off.

I repeat I have no personal knowledge of this company and I'm sorry I can't be of more help at this time.

Good hunting

Hi Steve, I also live in Cornwall. I assume the Leicester dealer has a good bargain/price for you to drive that far.
Have you checked Halls Motorhomes (Helston) or Eden Motorhomes (Scorrier, near Redruth)?
Worth a look.

Austin8 is correct in that Campers Direct are filing for insolvency.
