It's always been the case that you require a licence to operate a TV in a motorhome though your home licence covers it. However, you are only covered so long as the TV in your house is not in use at the time.
Whether this is enforceable I'm not sure. Never heard of anyone getting caught in breach of the above

When I was a single person serving in the RAF, we had to have an individual TV licence for each TV in the barrack block.

MOD argued that each Airman had his own room, so therefore, individual dwellings!

Still had to share ablutions and kitchen and laundry though!

The TV licensing laws clearly state that you do not need a licence for a mobile caravan. However the piece I read does not make it clear whether or not you need to have one at home, or whether this covers you as long as no-one else is watching on your home TV.

It would clearly be difficult for them to enforce in any respect. What happens if you go fulltime and are of No Fixed Abode? Presumably then you need to have a licence - but registered to where?

Hi

They have done their very best to explain it in simple terms here:-

If your second home is a boat or touring caravan or vehicle, and you use TV receiving equipment to watch or record TV there, you don't need a separate TV Licence. You will be covered by the TV Licence for your main home.

No mention of a TV being used at home by Granny or the Kids while you are out & about in the van watching ...So what's the problem?

Mike

Just ask Johny the Gipsy what he does - that should provide an interesting answer!
