Hi All

Am looking at fitting Gaslow system ( 2x 6 kgs cylinders) to our Compass. I will be doing the job myself. Can someone tell me the best place/price to buy all the bit and bobs needed. I am able to travel most places so can pick up bits from dealer or whoever. Have searched the forums but seem to be unable to find best prices. Or, would it be better to wait until Birmingham Motorhome Show and check out deals there?

because the price was as good as any but carriage was very cheap. Almost next day service I recall.

I fitted the filler on a home made L bracket rather than cut through the wall, this keeps it nice and clean too.

I have never dealt with the firm, but after a phone call to hem , and a recent visit to their shop, I think Waudby's are worthy of a mention.

In respect of Gaslow. I have had three Gaslow systems on three different vans. Two systems had leaks on day one and another leak involved a rubber pipe. Ensure that you fill the system and thoroughly test it.

At the moment Waudbys' look favourite. I'm near Peterborough so a trip up the A1 looks likely. Unless someone suggests anywhere nearer.

I got my Gaslow stuff thru Waudby's too, I suggest you call them first as they don't have a big stock.

I also needed as extra long filler connector pipe (2 metres between the cylinders) and Wauby's took 3-months to get one, meanwhile I bought two 1m lengths directly from the Gaslow interwebsite (delivered the next day) and bought a joiner from a local Gas Parts store - job done.

Gaslow is a great system and fairly easy to fit if your a good DIYer, make sure you use plenty of PDF tape to seal the joins! (PTF?). Make sure you don't get any twists in the filler pipes as this extends the fill-up time and makes your thumb ache.

I found investing in cylinders with the fitted gauges a real bonus, go for the two bigger tanks if you can, the savings in the long run and better.

Beware that when you first fill them you will get a gas smell as the tanks adjust the pressure and vent off any excess, this should subsequently disappear as your top them up, especially, if you top them up regularly before they completely empty.
