I've got a brand new (empty) 6kg gaslow bottle in my garage ready to be installed, although it is empty the guage says its full - is there a problem with it?

Thanks,

Adam

Only in as much as I think those gauges are useless. If you look at a Gaslow diagram the internal float is at the bottom of the tank and doesn't start working until almost empty Ive taken mine off and go on the auto change valve. I think it was a way of increasing the price of the Tanks.

Sounds like a call to Gaslow is in order. The bottles ISTR are covered by a 15 year warranty.

I concur the Gauges are next to useless.
If I want to cheer myself up I just rotate the Bezel till it shows full or if I feel like a trip out to fill the tank rotate till empty.

Filled our tank in April, 2 months abroad plus other trips in UK just refilled cost £3.40.
Most of cooking done on Cadac, Bravoska or Microwave.

Off again on Sunday, HOORAY.

Someone else can answer this more accurately, but if the gaslow bottle is brand new, I think that the gauge reads that way anyway. It might be something to do with in-transit protection and locked in that position to prevent shock damage, becoming "unhooked" when first filled.

Mine was like that when received but after the first fill and subsequent empty in use, the gauge worked perfectly. A lot of people say they are useless but I think that, for me, is missing the point a bit. It says clearly that they only start to measure when the bottle is getting down quite a bit and to be honest I could not care less if I have a gauge that might tell me if the bottle is nearly full. I want a bottle that gives me adequate warning of getting low and the gaslow gauge does exactly that.

Very happy indeed with gaslow and will install on my next van as well

hmmm Gaslow bottles don't normally come with the gauge like that, I have sold countless bottles of the new style and never come across that before, might be worth giving Gaslow a call direct for some advice before filling.

Already filled and works perfectly. May have been stuck or knocked in transit. OK now, though.
