Hi all
I'm currently sat in the Motorhome park at Palavas down on the med, although my French isn't that goog I do how to say good morning/evening, smile and be polite, having travelled through France many times this lot down here seem particularly ignorant....our next door neighbours seem to keep moving and you can hardly raise a bonjour from anyone, I'm just going out to smell my drain down tap!

We had a similar experience in the Rhone-Alps this year.
Pulled onto a lovely wooded site by the river. Went a walk in the evening and despite saying Bonsoir to our fellow campers they all turned away and ignored us.

Even the campsite owner was dry with us. We were the only British van there.
Needless to say we only stayed one night.

Its strange when it happens

Seems like everyone on the site shares the same anti socialising feeling

You would expect some would prefer total privacy

but all of them Confused

Had a similar experience in Germany, our german is poor but we tried to speak with the people in the van next door, like pulling teeth Laughing

Next morning tho as they were preparing to leave chatted to us in very good English--strange

Aldra Very Happy

We were at Vivonne on Monday and parked in designated MH spot minging old frenchman with a thick piece of string for a belt pulled up in clampits van had to park further along got out stood in front of ours and proceeded to tut!

He did this three times the third time I told him to move on. I have as much right to be there as he had. Think he didn't like red ... Tough!

On the whole though we have been welcomed the divine chocolate patisserie the woman wanted a full blown conversation got by quite admirably with my schoolgirl french. Even no. 2 son was impressed.

Let's see what the Bordeauians are like today!
