hi, newbie here and we are currently looking to purchas a motorhome. however after reading the beginners guide I quite fancy soending some time at the shows looking at the various configs available to ensure we get the right one for us.
that said I seem unable to find a definitive list of shows for the rest of the year? Does one exist?
we live in bedfordshire and do not mind travelling!
The next big show is at Shepton Mallet which we have a rally at if you decide to come to Shepton please do call in at our rally area and say hello and if you need any help I am sure you will be inundated with little helpers.
We have a rally at all the remaining outdoor shows in the uk, if you look at the bottom of the front page in the rally section you will see a list of the show rallies.
There is also the NEC show in October, details are available from the NEC Website.
If you fancy travelling further afield then of course there is the Dusseldorf Show, which I understand is THE show to visit if you are considering buying a brand new van.
I hope you find a motorhome that fits your needs. Welcome to the forum by the way.
At Shepton, there will be a number of dealers exhibiting their wares, but personally I think the NEC will be the best place to look at a huge number of layouts and styles and price ranges in new vans, which will give you a good idea of what to look for. Alternatively, if you came to Shepton, we'd be glad (as would others, I'm sure) to show you round our motorhomes, highlighting good and not-so-good points, and perhaps things you should 'watch out for'.
Don't be afraid of making a mistake first time round. Few of us buy the 'ideal' motorhome at first - I know we didn't, but it enabled us to try the lifestyle out, to see if we liked it, and to find out exactly what we really wanted. We had about 15 months with our old van before buying our new one. We've had it nearly 12 months now, and it's perfect!
I was hoping that by attending the out door shows we may get to see more Second hand vans but that doesnt sound like its going to happen. We are planning to attend the NEC but deffo do not have the budget to buy new ( or by reading some of the posts on here really want to after the probs experianced!) I know that if I spent 40k on a new MH i would expect every little detail to be perfect!!!!
I have placed a post in the newbies section asking for suggestions on vans that I should be looking at. there are so many out there it would be good to narrow the field down. I like the Ci 171 but with 2 kids on a rainy day it could get cramped with out a second seating area where they can play!!
Before you part with your hard earned cash it might be worth your while hiring a motorhome for a week or so. That will give you some idea of the pit falls and hopefully help you make your minds up.
