Hi, I am just back from a trip up the west coast of Scotland and my fridge is defrostiong whilst on the move. It works OK on 240V hook-up and on gas but when I run on 12V ...no cooling... I have checked the fuse under the bed and it's OK Have checked the volts from the habitation battery 13.7V with engine running and 12.4V engine off. When on 12V, there is no heat coming from the back of the fridge with the outside grills.removed. Someone has said there is another fuse under the bonnet but all I can find are Fiats own fuses.
Can anyone point me in the direction of this other fuse or any other suggestion would be welcome

Regards. Jim

Check the fridge relay, or any point on the 12V wire between that and the fridge when the engine is running.

Hi Jim

We have the same problem on our new fridge a Thetford N180. I believe it is the 12v element and we hope to get ours replaced under warrenty. I have seen a post saying it is a common fault on this fridge. Do you have the same version?

Jan

Looks as if it could be as it is a Thetford N model. If your van is under warrenty get your dealer to investigate otherwise you will probably need a fridge engineer. While we are away I am using frozen ice packs in the freezer section and that is keeping food frozen long enough in between journeys until we can get ours mended.
