They make it very difficult and costly to cancel because they know what many people dont - that you, the card holder cannot stop the payment from your account.

Twinky-thanks but you're absolutely wrong- all I do is cancel the direct debit (on line banking) Done it many times & did it with Setanta last year before they brought out an " improved " service.

GerryD/carolgavin-thanks but done all that. The main problem seems to be when I'm recording- I was able to view the programme ok-(and had no problem in making out the PSG and Lille footy colours! - excellent quality picture -Wink )

Kennyo-this is at home on Freeview - not when away

Thanks all- I'll just have to watch a favoured programe when it's repeated and not bother with recording.

Telbell,
tell me your exact problem, what you do and what the Humax PVR does and I shall have a word with Humax for you. Is it a PVR9200 or the new PVR9300?
Gerry

Twinky

Er....no you didn't mention Credit Card you just said Visa

NEVER ever pay for a setanta subscription by visa.

When I subscribed I gave them my Visa Debit Card number to start off a direct debit -so dead easy to cancel. I take your point about Credit Card but can't really see any merit in paying a direct debit by CC anyway.

GerryD-thanks for the offer-that's appreciated. Can I leave it a while and see how it goes? This am I contacted Sentanta & they said I can't record from Freeview anyway ( Rolling Eyes ) only satellite.

I'll PM you later

Twinky.....i had exactly the same problem as i set up payment on my credit card.

Long story short.

Decided i wanted to watch a certain football match in APRIL, phoned Setanta sports and set up contract using CREDIT card.

Came to the conclusion the coverage was lousy ( quality of the programe ....not reception) so followed their guide lines how to cancel 7 days later.

They continued to debit my card a further 3 times whilst ignoring phone request and e mails.

Even a new credit card did not prevent them from debiting my account.

I have now passed this on to " the dispute section " at the credit card company whilst still recieving phone calls from Setanta offering their latest deal.

Would not touch with the proverbial barge pole.

AND

They have England world cup games.

Lesson learnt re credit card payment.
