My Maxview Crankup has a number of setting for skew at the LNB. As I understand it having the correct setting can make a significant benefit to reception, especially in fringe reception areas. Despite trawling the internet for info and suggested settings for different areas I can find nothing. There is no reference to selecting appropriate setting in the users bumph that came with the system. Has anyone got info on this subject, how about yourself Snelly
Check out this web site, I found it very useful for the skew and magnetic compass bearings for out trip to France this year. Managed to tune in every time, longest time setting up less than 2mins.

I experimented with the skew setting on my crankup when I first installed it Found it made absolutely no difference at all to the signal strength or quality wherever I set it.
This was in the UK with good line of sight reception though.

Just did a sample of various areas skew angles which has shown values in the region of 5 to 8 degrees for different areas of Germany, likewise 11 to 15 for UK & Ireland and 28 to 30 for Costa del Sol & Algarve.
With such a variation from the 'home' setting surely adjusting the LNB for the 'visited' area would help maintain reception as we move towards the fringe area.
Again, does anybody know how many degrees each click on the Maxview Crankup LNB represents.
I have had people report that the standard setting on the crank up is fine for all area's including Spain and Morocco. I have never heard of anyone having to adjust the skew yet?

Have to disagree with you shane,I know,I know,not very wise,but from personal experience(and advice from Robert Jackson) I know that its much better to set the skew at twenty minutes to the hour in Portugal,something to do with the curvature of the earth,with normal skew I can sit and watch the dish merrily spinning around ,with the skew set at twenty to the hour it locks on almost immediately.seamus.
I have the Maxview Crank up. Installed my self with the factory set skew.
Have travelled from Fort William down To Barcelona. the only thing I ever adjusted is tilt. (cant get on roof whilst away from home) Perfect picture every time.
Got this info from Matt Pike of Raven Manufacturing who supply the LNB used by Maxview
'Please find attached a pdf of the LNB switch settings for the UK, I thought we had a map for Europe, but unfortunately I was mistaken. However, you can extrapolate the lines through Europe to give you a good idea of what the LNB setting should be, eg. south west France/Spain, 1 or 2, France 3, Italy and Germany 4 or 5, etc etc.
It you are travelling through Europe, you may find this website to be of use when pointing your dish;

Again, it defaults over the UK however you can drag/zoom the map around Europe, you will also need to select the relevant satellite too, usually 28.2° Astra.'
I know its all finicky fine tuning to some but it could be the difference between reception and no reception especially for example if its cloudy or raining.
