When you are in the UK or in Europe and you visit anywhere that offers free WiFi, such as Macdonalds - how do you actually connect? Does your laptop/phone/iPhone etc automatically connect or do you have to put in a password or network key? If so, how do you find out what the password key is?
The reason I ask is that I once tried to connect at a Macdonalds drive thru and although my laptop detected a full WiFi signal it would not open my Internet Explorer page! My husband went and asked one of the assistants if there was a password we needed to enter and she looked at him gone out and said she didn't know!
Thanks.
Sue

We were wondering the same thing. Tried to access the internet outside a MacD but to no avail. We decided that perhaps we needed to buy a BigMac in order to be given the password so, having more regard to our digestive systems, we gave up and drove on!
We did the right-click thing, which works fine with other accesses needing a password, but still nothing.
