I have a daughter who is going to do a course on photography and needs to have a digital SLR. This would be her first digital SLR and I am worried about buying her the wrong thing or being led by some spotty face salesperson down the high street. I guess what I am after is a good all round SLR camera that would be good for her to start on whilst giving her above average results.

I have a budget of around £600 so what should you with knowledge recommend?

Thanks

Keith

Many reputable camera shops offer customers a trade in when the customer are wanting to buy the latest all singing dancing model. So you can pick up some decent kit for a fraction of the cost of a new camera.

The important thing to remember is the quality of the image is soley dependent on the quality of the lense. Therefore you can also go the route of buying a camera body and then adding better quality standard lense. Of course it NEVER stops there, even for a student. next it be a telephoto lense or maybe a wide angle.

I have both the Canon EOS D350 and the Canon EOS D400 which are both good basic Dslr's. Being dated, either of these can be picked up for a song.

Of course, you may have your heart set on a new camera.

Finally, it dosn't how much the camera costs, it's the person behind that see's the photo before the button is pressed. Nothing wrong with learning the craft on a cheap camera.
