I have a Nikkai 10.4" freeview tv model jvt104a and Status 315 ariel that came with my pre owned motorhome.

The ariel box shows a red light so it has power. When the tv is connected up all I get is 'no signal' message . I pressed the auto search button on the remote to try and retune. However the 'no signal' message came up again. I have tried this at three different locations and still get the same message. Sad Has anybody got a suggestion of what to next?

If not, are there any good companies that i could go to for advice and help in the Bradford/Harrogate/Halifax area?

Thanks Ronidog.

I would take it indoors and try on your home aerial first.
If it fails then suspect TV fault. If it works then look at problem in motorhome..

Have you got a good aerial at home ? set it up by plugging into your home one and do the autoscan again.I have got freeview on my tv but had so much trouble getting a signal anywhere I went even in good areas, I bought the Aldi Sat system best thing I ever bought ! so now get Freesat and dont bother with Freeview.Maplin are now selling them for £39.99 (basic model) takes a while to set up at first but now can get set up in about 5mins using a compass (essential) so if I were you instead of spending loads on aerials that dont work get a Sat setup. Good sites to look at are www,satelliteforcaravans.co.uk and www, freesat.

We can get freeview in the house on the main televison.

I thought of trying the motorhome set in the house but unfortunatley I don't have a 12v transformer.

What is freesat? Do I need a huge ariel the size of jaderal bank and a new tv. I have only got a little Devon Carmargue!!!

The Sat dish is only about 40cm,pretty titchy really ! I use mine on top of a camera tripod. If you have not got a 240v plug then if you have a 12v battery with a cigar lighter setup with crocodile clips then you could try that as your freeview might be faulty and not picking up a signal. These are only suggestions.I took away a couple of times the aerial that I use at home (as a spare)which has suckers on it for camping etc can pick up superbly at my address but not anywhere else.

have you checked that the ariel is for digital pic. i have a tv with freeview but it is a pain having to keep setting it up and even next to the ariel at crystal palace i only got four channels bbc1, 2/ itv1 channel4. getting fed up with it and might go down the sat road after spending hard earned dosh.

Kalamity,
If you are only getting those four channels then you are tuning analogue and not freeview. It is not possible to get those four channels on freeview without at least 10 others. If you are close to Crystal Palace then you cannot fail to get the full freeview service. I can get Crystal Palace in Hemel Hempstead and Luton with a standard Digital Benchmarked aerial.

Ronidog,
You will need to retune the digital receiver every time you move the motorhome. To do thid ensure that you use the option to replace all digital channels and not add new channels. Some tuners will keep adding channels until the buffer is full and then not accept any more. Consequently it will show a no signal message.
The Status 315 is an omni-directional aerial and this will not help with the weaker signal that is being transmitted up to switchover. The best aerial is the Status 530 directional aerial. It is possible to buy a blanking plate to enable the fitting of 530 over the mounting for the 315.

Do'nt know about your particular tv but recently some freeview update downloads have caused this problem making some of the older freeview receivers useless you could try the manufacturer to see if this is repairable try this website for more info
