Hi

After an early start today, a drive through rush hour traffic and some hard work from the installer, the Camos is fitted. I opted for the 40 cm static version.

It is very early days and I have only used the auto satellite search function twice, once after installation and once on arrival back here. Time to lock is very quick indeed and the signal strength/quality when looked at via the "services" menu on the SKY remote are the highest I have ever seen.

I will, as with the previous motorhome and the Oyster add some reception reports as we travel about.

I was very undecided as to whether to go for the Camos or another Oyster. Two factors influenced my decision. One was price and the other was the ability to use the Camos during windy weather. There were too many times tha the Oyster had to be closed in the past.

On the downside, I do not know whether the Camos will work at Lake Garda for ASTRA2D signals - ie BBC and ITV. I will report on this as soon as possible.

Russell

I didnt have mine fitted when I visited garda, but mine works fine at narbonne, south of barcelona, santander, west coast of france, in fact all over france. Just make sure you have a clear line of sight, i have a compass with the 3 main sats marked on it.

I'm having one fitted on Friday, also gone for 40cm static, as in motion would probably not see over the overcab bed.

At present have Sky box with Multimo, so I can use Sky box on the Camos.

Are you using skybox or freesat, or both?

Any advantage with freesat, is it just better for choice when overseas?

We used ours all over France this Summer with Skybox.

Beziers and east all along coast. Mimizan on West coast and all in between.

Hi

I just use a SKY box. I already have a SKY card from the previous motorhome and so will take out a new viewing contract tomo. I pay about £20 per month for things like music channels, Lifestyle, old stuff, Discovery etc.

The Overcab wont effect anything, mine is the Tracvision in motion and it works a treat, Emmerdale on the move Laughing

Russell. The point you make about the wind is important. I use my van mainly in Scotland & several times I've had to bring the dish down because of the wind. My Oyster has been faultless but I cant see any advantage other than the low profile whilst driving.
