I, like many thousands of others, took a lot of photographs on Londons fair streets last week. It was perfectly legal....unless they have now banned photography?
Just to confirm what Krull has said. Keep an eye on the Police documenteries, as they always have to remind the public that the camera crew following are allowed to film in public.
My current concern with our local Police and VOSA is that they are using double yellow lined bus stops for traffic enforcement, which I believe is breaking the law on two counts. The cheek, lol.

Correct. P.A.C.E. is a useful document to read with ref to speeding enforcment.
? PACE does not cover speed enforcement nor construction and use regulations.
I think you'll find that the police are exempted from parking legislation when on police business. They should however be setting an example!
______________________________________________________________ Satisfied now I´ve gotten rid of my Marquis supplied Autocruise- both were rubbish!
I've just spotted this thread and thought I'd give you a very recent experience of mine. I'm 52 years of age and my son is 15. He was training with the rest of his football team at a public park in London. I did as I often did and took pictures. The club is glad and the parents are especially happy if I get a nice one of their son which I can pass on to them.
Anyway, I was taking pictures, leaning against a tree, but certainly not hidden, when I heard a police siren. Everyone turned around to look, as you do, but thought nothing much of it... until a policeman and policewoman parked their car with lights flashing by the side of the common. They walked towards me and so to show them I was with the football club, I walked towards the players. At this point they asked if I was with them and confirmed that. They then asked if my son was playing for them and I also confirmed this. They said someone had seen me taking pics and called them. Now, I wanted to tell them they needed to do some revision as to what was legal and what wasn't, but I was rather embarrassed at this point, so I just chatted to them, because the male officer had a brother who ran a football team.
Now, how do you think that made me feel? When some little old dear (or maybe a young dear) rang the police to say that someone was openly taking pictures in a pubic park, perhaps they might have asked whether he was furtive, had a plastic mac and was making urgent hand movements. Instead, they jumped into their car, sounded their sirens and behaved like it was a terrorist alarm; they came straight for me and, polite though they were, they were armed and ready.
Annoyed at this incident though I was, I believe it to be a sign of the times - overreaction and political correctness. Everyone's a perv, unless they can prove otherwise.
P.A.C.E. is a useful document to read with ref to speeding enforcment.
Actually, PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984) has nothing whatsoever to do with speeding enforcement, but is the piece of legislation governing Police powers and procedures.
If you've read it all, you're a better (or possibly sadder) person than I, and my working life is almost entirely governed by it.
