Hi I'm considering full-timing it in a truck or a MH, any good websites / books / really good sources of info?

we have just made our decision to quit everything and start full timing in the near future,however we have not got the amount of capital that we were expecting, has any one got any ideas on part time working,and cheap living and any tips that might be of help

There are a few fulltimers on here, including Dave the site owner. I feel sure once see the post they will offer tips on starting, and any snags they found out about

Trawl the site, most things have been asked before but could do with some airing.

Few ideas to save money... travel slow, using less fuel, wild camp a lot, make your van as self-sufficient as possible, live off beans, get to know an area so you can pick up some work. Or join a network of part-time workers so you can travel inbetween jobs in different places (eg. librarians can do that). Or work on a site for free pitch - lots of people do this all summer then move to Spain for the winter and don't have to work. Do something that doesn't require you to be anywhere; write, sell e-books, make/sell small portable things, be a middle-man. Or if you're any good at accounts, convince us to employ you - just need an internet connection Wink

Trying to work out whether to get a cheap van now or hold off for a while and spend more money. Thing is, don't wana miss the summer traveling Wink

Hi Jimblob - thought the names were a bit too similar for coincidence!

There's certainly something to be said for 'getting out there'. We probably did a bit too much thinking and too little trying it out. Our Eura Mobil was our leap into gettting out there, now we're going for the van we really wanted, but now armed with the experience and confidence that everything in it is actually needed (well mostly Wink

)

If you get something you can live with and that you can sell for a similar amount to what you'll have paid for it, then you can upgrade if neccessary without too much stress. (Can offer you a very nice full-timing van, £44K, available June Wink

)

New van finished 3rd June (excluding disasters!)

I wish it was that easy..... I have been looking for work for four months since moving here, can't even get a job in Tesco's stacking shelves as I have "no experience in retail", can't make anything, don't know what I could sell, been a qualified accountant for 16 years but now considered too old or over qualified..... so much for the economic boom over here.
I give up. The Hymer will be the next thing to go at this rate. Sad

Follow the harvests and the sun

There seems to be hundreds of foreign workers (eastern block workers I think they are called) I Spain working on the farms hand sowing, planting, Harvesting Cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes
Im told they just move on when the works done - Dont pay rates, taxes

Its even possible to get this work in the UK in summer

Have your tried any of the IT Companies, they are fairly open minded, tend to have money men/women floating around the place and tend to be good payers, i would get yourself registered with an agency set-up your own company name

Won't be long before something comes in
