Oh Snelly, you forgot to mention that the reason you only endorse the KVH and the Maxview Crankup is that those are the ones that you sell!
Never hidden the fact Andy. Nice to hear from you by the way.

The Camos crank-up system has all the advantages of the Maxview system (although with a slightly smaller reception area due to its smaller size) and the great advantage of not being affected by wind to such an extent (due to its smaller size and the fact that it's flat and extremely rigid).

I have the Maxview, to be fair we have only ever experienced problems with wind on the North Wales Coast (must have been the wind direction coupled with stregth and position. Never a problem anywhere else, Even during the Mistral in France.
I have no experience of the othe dishes mentioned, just some portables. Thomson (poor) Suitcase cheapo (good UK reception as long as you are north of London) and stand alone.
With the Crankup coupled with a DreamBox, I can get a signal in most places, even as far north As Bergen, Norway and as far South as French/Spanish Med Border within 60 seconds.
The Caro system by Oyster is very popular. It depends on whether you want hassle free tv, one push of a button and away you go.It sits very low on the roof and the reception range would easily cover france. Prices start at around £1300, give Oyster a call for your nearest dealer
