Hi All,
Found the site in Feb(must say it is excellent), but only just got back to it after getting the van (Bessacarr e450) out of winter storage recently. The Mrs and I acquired this late last summer (after a practice run in a hired Euramobil the summer before that) and have enjoyed a number of 'long weekends' cycling and walking in various parts of the UK since then. So, we are pretty new and inexperienced motorhomers.....but looking forward to our first longer adventure in the summer (probably Scotland).
One query members may be able to help with....the van was stored outside under one of these breathable covers, which was fine, but the external sealant around the habitation unit door seems to have 'melted'ie it is now sticky and spreading. Is this just a bad batch of sealant?

Hi and welcome to the site, glad to see you got round to posting Cannot help you with your sealant problem, if you don't get an answer ask the question again and either post it on the mech/tech forum or I will do it for you if you post it here, think you may get more answers there as not everyone looks at all the forums

Welcome to the site, the sealant is a non-setting type, so will remain sticky like chewing gum, this allows it to fill the gap as the dissimilar materials expand & contract. If you have had large variations in temperature, this will cause it to spread a little. You will find it on lots of fittings too ie Status aerial joints & screw holes.
Watch out which shampoo you use to clean the van too, do not use one with silicone in it, or this will affect the sealant.

Tigger,
Thanks, that explains it, although the spread is much less marked elsewhere.....but I guess this is down to the amount of movement experienced. Good tip on silicon....ta.
