Hi, Last night I had Sky + HD set to record as follows.

BBC 1 Strictly come dancing. 8.15 - 9pm
ITV1 Take that 8.00 - 9pm, then Celebrity 9.00 - 10.30pm

Only Take that recorded the other two clashed therefore did not record.

This happens on a regular basis and it is getting very annoying.

Any tips that I can do to avoid this apart from not recording any more that one programme.

A little while since I've used a Sky+ box but there was a setting for how long before a stated time a recording should go after the program finished. I assume this was to make sure you didn't miss the end of a program that was running late. If you set this to finish smack on time, or even a couple of minutes early, you should get your next programme without overlap. The problem with this solution is that sometimes we had to go to the next recorded program to see the end of the previous one...
If the programs are on the same channel, you could use the manual setting to record that channel for both programs time and get them all in one lump.
Sorry, a bit vague but memory is dodgy these days Laughing

It's never going to be able to record two channels at the same time... does it not warn you that there is a program clash when you select to record?

You would have to have the sky box on itv to record the 2 channels. If you are going out set the box to one of the channels that you are recording so last night but on itv 3 and it should have recorded both channels.

Hi

I think its the issue with the minutes that are added pre and post the programme that you want to tape. You can record 2 programmes at once and watch one that is already recorded, however you cant record 2 and watch 1 live - it will clash and give you a warning. Go into the services menu and check change the pre and post times and give it a go.

We currently have a problem with ours as it keeps failing to record when its the only programme set to record. I have spent a small fortune on calls to Sky trying to resolve the problem and jumped through all the required hoops with them. It failed again last night so sky will be getting another call shortly - this time to bin it if they dont replace the box

My Sky HD Box can record 2 programmes at once providing you are not watching the TV. Is'nt Sky PLus the same? On Saturday I taped Strictly and the x factor which overlapped and there was no problem.

Hi rrusty,

Sky + most certainly can record two channels at the same time as long as you are not watching a third.

As suggested the problem lies in the overlap. However, if what you said is true then something is wrong.

What I would have expected is for:

BBC 1 Strictly come dancing. 8.15 - 9pm
ITV1 Take that 8.00 - 9pm,

To have recorded

Then

Celebrity 9.00 - 10.30pm

To have interfered with one of them, leaving you with one complete recording and two that were not complete. Occasionally and usually when you have the set on and are not looking the clash will be announced and will just select whichever it sees fit.

Regards

Chris

Change to freesat. The Humax PVR has no trouble handling two recordings at the same time and shifting a third if there is a clash.

Thanks folks, just to clarify the TV was switched off and I was only trying to record 2 programes at anyone time, next time that senario happens I will do manual recordings.

The problem is as stated the overlaping, but it is galling that it happens on the same channel.
