Over the last three to four weeks we have had problems with our Sky Free Sat switching from on to standby. Often at night when we are recording which results in only half the programme being recorded. It has sufficient ventilation and we have gone through the unplugging, re-plugging, checkintg the connections and replacing the card procedures. Anyone any ideas please.

You can cancel this in the menu, forget exactly how but when I had this problem it didn't take long to find the answer.

Just had our box at home replaced by sky for the same problem last week.

Sky engineer said that some boxes have a setting to switch them off after a period of inactivity, often at night. He said that there is a menu to switch this off.

Mine was swapped out because it did not have that function so was a faulty box. Ended up with a new dish and recon box for £65 call out charge.

Sky engineers said that if the remote was not used for a period of time it will go into standby, so I guess that's why you have an option to turn it off.

I did resort to e mailing Sky but after 4 days felt it appropriate to consult the experts i.e. MHF. I am also not sure how to access the menu. Cannot find how to.

The "new feature" was as a result of a software download recently. Go the sky setup menu and turn the feature off.

The feature has nothing to do with your box, the sky engineer lied to you
