I have bought a new leisure battery, which before using I checked on my mains battery charger. The levels were two thirds, so my questions are:
are batteries normally fully charged when sold?
would you expect it to lose charge over a period of time, without being used?

btw - I have not put it on the m/home yet.

Hi Karen

Your new battery will not be fully charged when you buy it. The actual charge condition will vary depending on when it was made and filled. A safe course of action with a new battery is to put it on charge before using it. Any lead acid battery will even after being fully charged lose some of its charge while just standing....in the battery suppliers shop or in your van when you are not using it. A new battery will only have a slow rate of self discharge but as it gets older this effect will be more noticable.
