Advice needed
Just put new tv in van turned dish on and it will not lock on to astra 2 (I can get it to lock on astra 1, hotbird etc.)

Would this be anything to do with the new FreeSat service ?
Do i need to update dish or receiver ?

any advice appreciated as away for Xmas/New Year

In the first instance please check your software version on your Oyster control unit.

The latest versions are as follows;
Vision 1 software 1.34
Vision 2 software 1.02/1.01

If yours precedes this, then an update will need to be carried out by
Oyster Sat Tech (Ten Haaft). Another satellite was place very close to Astra 2D which confuses the system and means it won't lock on.

When was the system last working?

I hope this helps,

That sounds like the release date of the software on your Oyster Control Box. The satellite that was put up next to Astra was released just over a year ago I think. So this would tie in with why it is not working.

Its odd however that it worked 6 weeks ago, and doesn't now. You can still manually tell the Oyster box where Astra 2D is and get it to lock on, but you would need to do this every time you turn the system on.

The following link is the current instruction set for Oyster:
http://www.ten-haaft.de/download/BA/Oyster-CARO-Cosmo_Digital_BA_OperatingInstructions_08-2008_GB.pdf

This may be of some help to you, as I couldn't find any earlier instruction sets.

If the unit does require a software update, this would have to be carried out by Oyster Sat Tech.

My only other suggestion is to move the van to a different location, ensure there is no obstacles in the path of the dish and try again.

Chris

Mine would sometimes lock on and sometimes not before I had the upgrade - be aware of obstacles - trees and the like - people think that the satellite is high up in the sky but in reality it is lower down if you know what I mean!! Rolling Eyes

Very rarely, especially in Europe, do we try and lock on Astra 2. We use Astra 1 or Hotbird. Then select an Astra 2 Channel, e.g. 1022, SKY News. The dish will then reposition. You can also fine tune in weak signal areas.

Hi

Yet Another Terry!

Thanks for the advice above, I have exactly this issue the Oyster CARO Vers 1 will not lock onto Atsra 2, but will lock onto Astra 1. Oyster Tech have loaded 1.34 onto my Controller but still the same. Any ideas please?

Thanks Terry

Hi All

Have had it confirmed that the most recent available s/w upgrade to 1.34 does not now fix the issue. I guess the Arabsat which is causing the issue has been loaded up?

Hi Richard

I have had the upgrade but it did not fix the issue, I have now had it confirmed the fix does not resolve the issue so was interested if you now have the problem again?

Thanks Terry
