I'm a Canon fan; had D20 DSLR for 4 yrs - excellent - also had Ixus 850 for some time (used it today in failing light at tractor event in Delamere with excellent results); its excellent! Bought 960is for number two son a few months ago - excellent as well.

960is in the Which report scored 67% and was a best buy.

"Canon’s 12 megapixel Digital Ixus 960 IS comes is very good overall. It ticked enough boxes and scored highly enough in our tests in order to be considered a Best Buy.

It’s not the smallest of cameras but it needs somewhere to store the built in image stabiliser and manual white balance adjustment."

The 90is came higher with a score of 72%. 970is was 69%, 860is 69%. The winner at 77% was canon powershot S5IS.

hOPE THIS HELPS.
CHRIS

I use a ixus 980is and am very imressed. It runs along side a four thirds Olympus 400D and an E1, which although only 6 megapixel can be interpolated to almost any size.

The ixus is a fantastic camera for someone to use day to day but and learn about more advance areas such as exposure and white balance. i have never managed to expire a battery in a day.
