being a photo simpleton as well I downloaded IrfanView, its free so that should please yer Scottish heart.

On one of the menus there is a thingy where you can resize the pics.

My avatar was big as a double-decker, now its postage stamp size.

Just don't ask me how tho'. Confused

Carol,

Re-size using Irfanview or any photo album software. You can try Windows Live Photo Gallery (from memory) or Google's Picassa; both are free.

Aim for 800 pixels wide by 600 deep MAXIMUM . Try 600 by 400.

Not my shape I hasten to add but the fact that when I take a standard picture and load it into one of these electronic picture frames, all of the photographs show people as being size 24 and 4 feet tall as it is set up for a 16:9 ratio. I know I can reset the aspect ratio on the electronic frame but then the photograph only fill 2/3s of the screen.

What I am looking for is a system which will allow be to stretch the photographs before I load them into the card so that when I view them on the frame, the people are of normal proportions and the file fills the frame.

Regards
John C

With different aspect ratios between display (or print) and that of your raw photo, you can either have white spaces or a cropped picture. Once you know what you want you can crop if required in any editing program.

Hi Carol

I'm no means expert in computer thingies but this is how I reduce photos.

I open the photo I want in Photoshop Elements.

Next I chose 'Image' from the tool bar at the top. This lets down a menu.

I choose 'Resize',

then 'Image size'.

Then in the little boxes I reduce the number of pixels (width) to about 1000 and the pixel (height) automatically reduces in proportion, to about 800 (if the photo is in portrait rather than landscape it'll be the other way round).

I then use 'Save As' to save the reduced image to wherever I want it.

I've used 1000 x 800 pixel size photos to attach to emails, but for an avatar they need to be smaller.

Hope this helps

Chris
