Hi All

Thanks for the kind comments. I have a swift Bolero which so far (1yr old, nearly) I can recommend. I now chop my maps up and laminate the relevant sections, or recently I've been printing relevant bits from mapping software and laminating them. Can you imaging opening up huge OS map in high wind!

Up in the hills/ mountains one day I recall feeling smug about having an electronic OS map as well as the folded variety as backup in my backpack, expressly for the reason you state. They say pride comes before a fall and what became a sobering experience for me when exposed to a sustained, high level, buffeting wind and needing to make a navigation decision with compass and GPS mapping was the extent to which such a wind can evaporate one's ability simply to think.

In the end I had to find cover from the wind and sort myself out before proceeding.
