The Velcro discs, were working OK until it got a little warmer, then they just became unglued and left the TT dangling in plain sight, it is now riveted to a bracket (upside down modified Aldi/lidl over the door coat hook) which hangs either side of the mirror arm, it has just one velcro disc now to stop it sliding along the top of the mirror and bouncing around, it's been there for a couple of months now with no further probs.
To do this, if TT is out of warranty, (TT one original only) remove 4 visible screws, take of back and remove the battery, (good time to make a note of type and model No, as they don't last forever) drill hole approx 4-5mm od, as close to bottom of back as poss, find big (about the size of a thumb nail) headed rivet, remove most of head to leave a section about 4-5mm either side of pin (see drawing below) insert into back panel, with head internal, rivet this to the modified Aldi/lidl over the door coat hook, adjust to hang close to mirror bracket or some other point.
Job done, Seemples.
I suppose there is a ready made bracket which would do this, but where's the fun in that.
This might work on other make/models of sat nav but I've only done this one so far.
There was an inherrent problem in my last method so it's been removed, it didn't harm the TT except for a small hole in the back, but it stopped the battery from seating correctly, which placed a small amount of stress on the the base making it difficult to keep the USB charger lead securely fixed, so it kept going off, usually in the worst possible places.
But good news I found this new product in either Aldi or Lidl 3M product "KLETT-POWER" Now this stuff sticks like you know what, it holds the TT so well I almost have to swing from it and I only used one strip cut in half.
It says on the pack that you get four strips, well yeah you do, but you need to use two to stick together DUH, so really only four, unless you cut them in half, and as they are not like Velcro with a male/female join, they work very well.
Most 'sticky' things won't stay for long unless both surfaces are cleaned with something like thinners, spirit, acetone or similar.
Then you will have to cut through the pad to remove later.
Ray.

I have a 12v socket immediately over the cab for a TV that doesn't live there, so I've put a Ciggy socket up there too, and the tomtom gets plugged in there and the lead goes through a little hole, comes out from behind the interior light, so it's next to the tomtom in use, and the cable isn't a giveaway either to the the fact I have sat nav in the van.
Hi.
Anybody who has the good idea of hard wiring the Tom Tom to the 12 volt system to get rid of the awful cigie lighter plug and make it neater Don't!.
I was the fool that did, thinking cigie plug 12 volt, live wire to courtesy light 12 volt always live wire it to that, POP! , the bloody Tom Tom works on something like 9milli volts, and the engines won't take it Captain.

I did mean to actually mention that in my OP, but totally forgot all about it, I did consider doing the same but concluded it might not be a good idea, plus I didn't want to bugger up a perfectly good TT lead.
Just writing to thank Kev, not for any of his tips but for teaching me at last what OP stood for.
Obviously not Old Person which I found a bit insulting to some
Orful Person which I thought someone would have pulled them up on spelling!!
Or even Old Post which I went with for quite a while
Its ORIGINAL POST OR ORIGINAL POSTER
So thanks for that Kev.
We use a strip of Velcro above the door to hold the Fiamma Fly Net in place that way we can just remove and put in wardrobe rolled up when we don't need it.
