I found the easiest way to "log on" to Astra 28.2 is to use the compass to find the general direction.
Crank up the Dish - wind in down a couple of turns, and then turn the Dish well past the general direction of Astra 28.2 in an ANTI-CLOCKWISE direction. Then slowly turn the Dish CLOCKWISE to come onto Astra 28.2. Once it has found this, then a general bit of fine tuning will reveal all!
I found this way as Astra 28.2 is just to the L/H side of the German "naughty" Channel as I call it!! So first arm yourself with a compass (Maxview type) and make sure you have fitted a Sat' Finder in line.

I dont know why you are all telling the original poster he needs a satfinder. If he has the Maplin box with the built in sounder he already has more than enough.
Read the instructions ie. set the box to receive Sky News on Astra 28.2 then press info then button 1 turn up the volume on both TV and receiver then set the maxview with the dish almost vertical. Point the dish midway between east and south then tweak slightly either way to get the sounder squealing like a banshee. If it does not first time it will only be because the dish elevation is not quite correct so try again raising it slightly and lowering it slightly and you should get the loud squealing sound and Sky on the screen. Once you do it sucessfully once you will know what to look for and next time will be rapid
