I used the hole punch method. I also put down loads of masking tape to stop scratches to the surface outside of the outer ring of the cut.

When drilling I went very very slowly through the top layer of metal and speeded up some when through that. Very nice neat hole in roof of van Smile

make sure there are no pipes, wires or reinforcing bars in the way of the saw.

If in doubt, don't do it.

Two comments,
Drill a very small pilot hole to mark the spot.
When I cut a hole for a new aerial I only cut the depth of the fibre glass outside, then the depth of the board inside.
This was a stroke of pure luck as embedded in the polystyrene were three electric wires!!!!!
I cut through the polystyrene with a knife.

Hi,

Got the job done. The Globesat I was installing gets a better signal strength than the little camping dish. But it's a damn site trickier to "fine-tune" the signal.

I suppose it will take a little getting used to.

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO.
