My first service and hab check is in June on a ford transit base.

Ford want £225 for service only.

Dealer wants £245 for service and £195 for hab check. They will give me a 10% discount for both at the same time. so £396!!

I can go to another dealer for hab check only at £144 but then add the service and I save £30. It will cost that in fuel to mess around! Sad

Just to add a bit to this, my van had it's first annual service last week at a Ford commercial vehicle agent and I found out if you don't specifically ask for a paint and body check they don't do it. Don't know if this applies generally.

Some garages apparently charge for this (usually £30 - £40) on top of the service charge and although some might think it a waste of money, it has to be done to maintain the paintwork and anti corrosion warranty.

Cheers,

Greg.

Hi,

Had my 2009 2.4 Transit based motorhome serviced at the local main Ford Truck Centre garage. Total price £110 for oil and filter change and general check over. They also replaced a number plate bulb during the service.

The vehicle has only covered 3500 miles but had to be serviced the retain the 3 year warranty.

Regards

Williat1

I spoke to our local in 'n' out garage and they were happy to service my transit for £95.

The only problem is that we are 300mm to high for the doors!

No ideas if MH's are covered by the same rules

....but i recently read that if a garage use original manufacturers parts, and follow manufacturers recommendations then any garage can service any vehicle and the warranty is still valid under euro laws.

I will research this as my latest Audi bill (S4 cabriolet) and VW bill (Touareg) are hitting close to £1000 for basic services between them!

If anyone can link to confirmed info then that will save me a lot of research because local Audi and VW specialists and will do it for half the cost.

........oh and dont get me started on oil - the S4 needed 10 litres of long life oil at £10+ per litre!!!!! I would have asked them to put the royal family's blood in instead as it was cheaper but they didnt have any in stock

Spoke to local Ford dealer today regarding service intervals on my 2.4cdti 140hp.

Variable 2 years or 30000 miles but I wanted to have oil and filter changed at 1st year (2800 miles).

They quoted £45+ VAT if I supplied the oil and filter (which I already have).

Its worth that to have the dealer stamp.
