We bought the Lidl Satellite system last week and have spent hours trying to get a picture or signal. All we get is low signal. Can anyone out there please help otherwise i might end up murdering my husband!!!
hi birdie
there was quite a few great posts here about this last week in the off topic section and general chat but i think theyre mixed in with the old posts as the site is being repaired .
heres what i done.
read everybody elses experiences
go into the street and see roughly where everyone elses is pointing , copy that , then put the telly at the window, get the dish horizontal (30) on the little compass thing but note its too wiggly in the sockets to be any real use.pick youre city on the disk and align it , next spin the dish till the compass point lines up between the o and m of the word telecom just left of astra cause thats not the astra you need and its not 28.2 degrees east (yes i know )
make sure the lnb is close to zero on the little scale printed on it !!!!!
now youre in the ballpark slowly move the dish a little each way till the red weak band on screen suddenly dissapears , when it dissapears this means its receiving something so stop, now go to the box in the house and use the menu to search for all free channels on astra 2 , once its finnished forget channel one as its bl@@dy blank on mine go to channel 6 sky news and press the INFO button on the remote and watch the RED bar go up and down as you move the dish , get the red bar as high as you can then lock the screw , next twist the lnb slowly and watch the red bar again , mines at 90% now.
then drink some tea and chill out as youre patience will be low now and remember most chanels are empty i think most activity is around channel 600 +
hope it works as it did for me .
best of luck

Wasn't going to tell but despite all the information we got from everyone we cannot I repeat cannot get the blasted thing to do diddly. We are more than slightly embarrassed to admit this, but on a positive note I see through another thread that a lot of you are coming to Scotland so what do you say to a free hookup in our drive, loads of tea and or coffee, congenial company, perhaps a dram or three and a nice meal. In exchange for some one setting up the little darling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please please........................................see now I'm begging!

Hi carolgavin. If you follow the Manual and all the pointers in the posts you should be able to get something. It can be frustrating the first time and the second. Once you actually get a signal and receive the channels you will wonder why you had a problem. The best time to try is at around 11.30am in the morning. Astra 2 is where the Sun is at that time. The dish itself should be just about vertical. That is the face of the dish straight up and down. You have to move the dish very, I said very slowly from one side the other. Left to right or right to left (makes no difference). It takes 10 seconds for a Digiital signal to lock in. Sorry I can't come up to Scotland to sort it for you.
