On the way to France last week the little red injector light came on a couple of times. There were no symptoms and the van was running fine. Did about 600 miles around N France and back to Brum and the light did not show its face. Any idea what casued this? Should I be worried? could the van being standing for about four weeks have contributed to this. Any help appreciated.

Hi,

I've just had a letter from my local Fiat dealer about a Safety Recall involving the Engine Management Unit. Apparently a fault light comes on sometimes even tho' there is no problem. I'm having it fixed while I wait on Thursday. I haven't actually seen this problem but I believe others have. The van is a 2003 Hymer B634 on 2.8jtd maxi chassis (Alko).

Hi,

We had same problem but engine started to miss a bit. Called RAC who inspected and said " computer diagnostics says no problem" but he agreed was running on 3 cylinders. Took to dealer who rechecked on their computer and was told needed new injector ( cost over £400, thank god it was under warranty)

When fitted it still wasnt working- so they replaced the whole wiring loom within the engine bay.

Said more than likely was a faulty cable, but to trace it would be `impossible` so easy to replace everything????

Anyway drives like a dream now

We took our new Fiat 2.8 Burstner to Scotland in May and had the warning light come on, and the engine was misfiring. Called out the AA who identified the leads to one cylinder as loose. Limped to Fiat dealer at Oban, van to big to go in but mechanic came out and fiddled with lead a bit. Showed me what to jiggle with if it happened again. Drove down to Fiat dealer at Darlington without any more problems. They plugged in the computer, cleared the warning from the system, and confirmed that this does happen, because the leads are a bit short?! All seemed OK so we carried on. The next day the light came on again, misfiring, so I jiggled the lead and that sorted it.
Its the second cylinder from drivers side (RHD). My next step is to go into a dealer and politely request that lead and connector be replaced.
