Captainking,

I'm tempted to say get the Freesat package from Sky for £150,

then rip the dish/LNB off the wall, buy a tripod, compass and satellite signal strength meter and Bob's your Uncle.

Your reception depends on where you go in France; here is the BBC TV footprint. I've received it OK on an 80cm dish (Sky will not supply one this big) near the French/Spanish border down from Biarritz, but it got marginal in rain.

It would be simpler to have a link to the above site as the question is asked on a regular basis.

You don't have to buy a complete system to subscribe to freesat. Sky will sell you a card only for £20.00.

You just supply the serial number of the system you already have to sky, and the card will work OK.

This will allow you to pick up a second hand /cheap system from a friend, Ebay or the likes etc.
