We thought that the status 530 aerial that came with out MH was not very good, so we invested in a satellite system.
a friend of ours wanted an aerial for his tv and went to (the supplier or distributor of the status aerials) the shop, he told them about our findings. They told him if its routed through the white booster box you will get c***p reception. If you take the aerial lead out of the booster and put it directly into the freeview box all will be fine. This afternoon Rich did this and had great reception and 61 freeview channels. He know thinks its a great aerial. Apparently the amplifiers in these boosters interfere with the recievers in modern day freeview boxes and tv's. Lin

My Avtex and Mobile TV both work well through the booster.

I have to say that this is absolute rubbish. Any Status aerial must be used in conjunction with the associated amplifier. I would first of all ask whether the amplifier was switched on. If it was not then there will be no signal to the TV. No bona fide distributor for Status aerials would give advice such as this. These are by far the best TV aerials on the market and everyone who uses them will confirm that they require the amplifier.
I would suggest that your amplifier is faulty, in which case the distributors, Grade UK will exchange with no quibble.

GerryD, can you explain then why when we only use the aerial lead straight into the freeview box do we get 61 channels, excellent picture quality . The MH is parked on our drive between two houses. When the booster is used very poor reception. We live in a very poor reception area for freeview, on our home aerial we have to have a very long pole on the house and a booster, yet we plug the aerial in the MH straight in to the freeview box and have a much better reception, which proves to us it works better without the booster and we don't get a snowy picture. Our friend went to a status dealer in Taunton who recommended to him that we try it without the booster. This has solved our problem and wether you should or shouldn't is neither here nor there, but we are happy.Lin

This has given me hope; I can count on one finger the number of times I've had any kind of reception from my Status 'flying saucer' arial, and that was in the storage car-park on the outskirts of Manchester.
I'd put it down to the kind of middle of nowhere places we go to having next to no signal anyway. Also, I observed that the statics and caravans on Anglesey all seem to have massive directional 'sea-gull roosts'; so assumed we didn't stand a chance.

Right, will be trying that out next time, and will report back...

(it's a new Meos TV by the way)

Lin,
Firstly you are in Taunton, which has just undergone Digital Switchover, so unless your are in a particularly bad aera or have hills or tall buildings in the way your signal should be excellent. In your aera you should use your Status aerial with the amplifier set to Low. This will cut the signal in line with full digital strength. You will find that as you travel to parts of the UK that haven't had the advantage of switchover, you will need to switch your amplifier to High in order to receive the full signal.
I would be interested in the results of using your amplifier on the Low setting as if this also leaves you in the position of no signal to your set top box then this is an indication of the potential issue that we have been suggesting to the BBC and Digital UK since the announcement of transmitter strengths post switchover. Unfortunately, a signal that is too powerful will give exactly the same effects as a signal that is too weak.
Without knowing your postcode I am assuming that you are covered by Stockland Hill transmitter or one of it's realys, in which case you will have noticed a massive increase in signal quality last Wednesday.
Gerry

Rather than "trying that out...." why don't you change your "flying saucer aerial" to a 530 Status aerial first, which is the one referred to by the O.P.?

THe circular aerials are known to be....crap Wink at least for digital signals

GerryD, we live in Stoford on the somerset /Dorset border and as far as I am aware we have not switched yet. The aerial, booster and freeview box were all factory fitted by Autotrail. Rich has tried it in the low position and the picture/reception was better but still poor, remove the booster and perfect reception all round. Lin
